(both from Manchester Green Party
I’ve been involved with campaigning in and outside of the Green Party and am part of groups that in particular are focussed on social activism.
The Green has more progressive policies than any other of the mainstream parties but the broadcasting of our message has not been as effective as it could be, our language on the ground has been lacking. This is particularly evident regarding BME communities and is reflected in the lack of BME members and activists within the party to date.
The overdue formation of the Green Party BME Group will go some way towards moving the national party to address this and I would like to help in that effort.
I believe that growing the group within the main party will attract BME support and members from outside the party, especially as we become more visible.
For myself, I am ex-Chair of Manchester Green Party, campaigning to become a Councillor in Manchester, am a member of Manchester BARAC (Black Activists Rising Against Cuts) and a trustee of the Manchester Environmental Education Network.
